Most of you will probably know this already, but I thought we should just put a little section on golfreviews.org.uk about the correct etiquette when teeing off. Naturally, the person who won the last whole has the right to play first. This is known as ‘having the honour’. If a player plays out of turn during the game, his opponent can make him replay the shot without penalty.
Golf is not only an enjoyable game, it can also be quite dangerous too if you don’t take heed of the etiquette. When starting a hole, make sure the hole in front of you is clear before you tee off. If you want to take practice swings ensure that they are always off the tee. If it isn’t your turn to tee off make sure you stand well out of the way when your opponent takes his first swing, after all, it’s very off putting to have someone stand right by you when making that crucial first shot.
If you have made a shot and it looks like it is heading towards other golfers it is important to always shout ‘fore’ to warn them of your shot. When other people, including your opponent, is playing ensure you are always quiet and one last golf etiquette - always be on time for a match or tournament. Not only is it impolite to be late, in tournaments you can be disqualified for lateness.
