Lorena Ochoa was born in Guadalajara on the 15th November 1981. She is a Mexican golfer who plays on the U.S based LPGA Tour. Lorena is one of the only Mexican golfers to be a member of the world’s leading golf tour. Even though she’s only the second Mexican to become a professional player, Lorena has quickly become one of the LPGA’s top players.
Growing up next to the Guadalajara Country Club, it seemed only natural to take up golf so she did when she was five. Ochoa won her first state event at only six years old and her first national event at the tender age of seven. While still a junior she captured 22 state events in Guadalajara and 44 national events in Mexico - and some men still claim women can’t play golf!
After finishing her sophomore year, Lorena turned professional. She won three of her ten events on the 2002 Futures Tour. She even topped the money list to earn membership on the LPGA Tour for the following season. In 2003 she was the LPGA Rookie of the year and in 2004 she won her first two LPGA Tour titles. Phew!
At only 25 Lorena Ochoa has achieved so much and is still going! Are you a fan of Lorena Ochoa? Let us know!
