When it comes to the all important shot of putting the ball doing this right is very important. Forget about reading the green until you have mastered the correct technique of striking the ball. Many golfers have their own style when it comes to putting the ball but there are no hard and fast rules about how you address the ball.
There are four main stages to get that perfect putt and win the hole

Stage 1
To putt like a pro what you must remember is that very few top golfers break their wrists when they putt. The way to do this is to let your arms hang loosely and hold the putter lightly so when holding the putter, from your shoulders down your arms should be like a pendulum once this is achieved now address the ball so your nearest foot to the hole has the ball to you inside foot and the club face square to the target line and your eyes over the ball. Just remember when taking your shot keep your hands level or ahead of the ball through the stroke as this is very important.

Stage 2
Keeping the arms hanging loosely from the shoulders move the putter smoothly and slowly, making sure the putter is still lined up with the hole and as close to the ground as possible when you swing back and forth.

Stage 3
When taking your shot you must maintain your tempo through the swing, accelerating slightly into the ball.

Stage 4
Remember to follow through to the hole with your club, not your eyes.
The main key is to keep your eyes in contact with the spot where the ball was rather than trying to see where it has gone.
