This Python thought it was tucking into four nice chicken eggs but instead they were golf balls.
An Australian couple had placed golf balls in their chicken coop at Nobbys Creek in New South Wales to encourage their hen to nest as they where not having much luck.
When they had returned to the chickens pen they had found that the balls had gone and was confused. They had noticed there was a Python snake near that had a few odd lumps. The 32 inch snake had swallowed the balls thinking they were chicken eggs.
Senior veterinarian Michael Pyne had to operate to remove the balls from the snake’s intestine.
Mr Pyne said the python was now making a speedy recovery, having been cut open.
“Those golf balls weren’t moving any further; they were stuck where they were,” he said.
“If it hadn’t been found, it would have died for sure.”
Carpet pythons, which can reach over 3.6m (12′) in length, have a varied diet that includes many different mammals and birds - and their eggs.
