This years Masters Tournament saw Zach Johnson win his first major tournament but what is the history of it? The Masters is the first of one of four major championships played each year in men’s golf. The Masters is always scheduled for the second Sunday in April. Unlike other championships the masters is held at the same location every year - Augusta National Golf Club which is a private golf club.
The masters was started by Clifford Roberts and Bobby Jones who designed the Augusta National with Alister MacKenzie.
The Masters is an official money event on the PGA Tour. This means that in line with the other majors, winning the masters gives the golfer many privileges and makes his career even more secure. Oh to be a pro golfer eh?

When you win the masters, you are automatically invited to play the other three majors (U.S Open, The Open Championship and the PGA Championship) for the next five years! You also earn a lifetime invitation to the Masters. Not only that you also receive membership on the PGA Tour for the following five seasons and invitations to The Players Championship for five years. So no wonder Tiger is always smiling!
